Marni Post Summer 2012

Marni have just launched their ‘Post Summer 2012’ collection, which in typical Marni fashion, features minimalist, easy-to-wear, utilitarian clothing and accessories. My personal favourites being the geometric patterned clutch bag and white shirt with yellow and brown striped detail.

I really like the video that they produced to promote the line. Like the designs, it’s very fresh and simple, and most importantly fun!

Film to Watch: Performance

Last Thursday my film-buff friend took me to the BFI to watch 'Performance' (1970) featuring the bright, young things: Anita Pallenberg, Mick Jagger and James Fox.
The film is East End gangster (James Fox) meets Notting Hill bohemia (Mick Jagger and Anita Pallenberg) with a psychedelic twist. Possibly one of the most surreal films I have ever watched. if you haven't had the chance to watch it before, I'd highly recommend it!

Queenie

Seeing as the whole country is now counting down for the Jubilee weekend to begin, I thought that I'd share this image with you. In homage to our darling Queenie here is a colour palette pulling together some of her recent rainbow outfits. It's no wonder that Domenico and Stefano are always so inspired by HRH...

Fake Prada Shop in Desert

Ever fancied visiting a Prada shop in the middle of the
desert? Me too. Unfortunately though this is not going to be a reality. This
Prada shop is a fake that is set up in the middle of the desert in Marfa,
Texas. What a shame, I’ll have to make other plans for the Jubilee weekend…

Penhaligon's Peoneve

It has taken five years and finally I have a new scent. I’ve been disloyal to my firm favourite, Chanel Chance, and after attending the launch last week, I have started to wear the latest creation from Penhaligon’s: Peoneve.

The main fragrance note is
Peony, alongside a head note of Violet Leaf; it’s the perfect perfume for an
English summer.

I met with Nathalie Vinciguerra, the Head of Fragrance Development at Penhaligon’s, and she was the most incredible ambassador for the fragrance. It was a lovely change from most other product launches, as she was so passionate and insightful (unlike the forced sales pitch of most PRs…)

Peoneve was developed as a young and modern perfume to compliment the English summer. The inspiration for the perfume was femininity and pleasure. Well guess what – I’m female and it gives me pleasure to wear it. For once the boyf was impressed as well…

Jonathan Saunders Make-Up S/S 12

One of my favourite shows for S/S 12 was Jonathan Saunders. Not only were the clothes beautiful but I also fell in the love with the make-up, and can’t wait to recreate those thick cat’s-eye flicks.

M.A.C. make-up artists Lucia Pieroni, who created the look, said that she was inspired by 1950s Miami housewives. Possibly one of my favourite London Fashion Week inspirations since Holly Fulton’s A/W 11 collection, where she was inspired by the affair of Coco Chanel and the Duke of Westminster.

Julia Restoin Roitfeld Models for iD

Forget a pregnant Demi Moore for Vanity Fair (can you believe that it was shot 21 years ago!?); it’s all about Julia Restoin Roitfeld and her bump on the latest cover of iD magazine.

The cover is one of eight available for the summer ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ issue, and shows Restoin Roitfeld sat in a boudoir wearing lingerie whilst holding a teddy bear. The image has much more personality and depth than the normal celebrity pregnancy portraits that we are used to seeing. Great work iD!
